I didn't find any good linens at all at the weekend, but soon cheered up when I found this sweet little wasp waisted child mannequin. Full sized ones are hard enough to find but a child sized one of this age is quite rare.
You can see here how tiny she is next to a full size mannequin. She is marked a size 32 that translates into a modern size 6.
She is stamped LAMBERT but looks very much like a Stockmann that was stamped for a couturier perhaps. They made most of mannequins in the 19th century, shipping them in their thousands all over the World. Very few survived.
Women then as now had different shapes in different countries and Stockmann adjusted their mannequins accordingly.
I am intrigued by the idea of dressing a young girl in clothes that would give her such a womanly shape. Maybe it isn't such a modern phenomenon after all.
She is in super condition despite the mark that looks like ink. I was supposed to be buying stock but I can't bear to part with her just yet.
