A strange day!

I was up and out long before daybreak yesterday to go hunting for special items to sell. There were two linen sales and several dealers to visit, all in different directions so I used the motorway to enable me to get round them all in time.
The weather was appalling, so dank and dismal that it was hard to tell when dawn finally arrived (that is normally the bit that makes me think it was worth getting up for). The mist clung to the valleys like sticky grey candy floss that even the constant drizzle didn't clear.
Suddenly a car in the distance spun out of control, turned and hit the central reservation leaving large bits of debris all over the road and the driver, a young woman slumped over the wheel.
That was quite a shock but even more shocking was that the other drivers swerved and carried on past, no-one even slowed down making it incredible dangerous to stop and go to help. It was quite a terrifiying experience, thankfully a lorry driver did stop and blocked the road so that we could move her to safety. The car was a write off but amazingly the driver was unhurt. I still don't understand how you could leave someone in danger like that.

It did make me a tad late for the first sale so I rushed straight in without my first coffee of the day. (I take tablets in the morning that don't work if you drink coffee with them, so have to wait!) I carry a supply of strong ground coffee with me in a flask like a true addict.

So there I was, standing by a display case full of silver when a woman approached me and asked if I would like something to drink! (quelquechose a boire) How wonderful I thought, this is really civilised, so I ordered a large coffee. She looked slightly confused and eventually burst out laughing and explained that she had asked if she could get me anything to look at (quelquechose a voir!) How embarrassing!

The rain and fog continued all day and I saw another serious accident, this time the Gendarmes and the ambulance had already arrived.

It was worth it though, I found some magnificent linens to list on chatelaine-chic (if I can bear to part with them that is)
And some wonderful Christmas reviews from the 1930's and 40's full of quality art prints, medieval manuscripts and adverts.
There was lots more, including some very old and quite rare clocks to list on cherchez-chic.
Last night I did an online quiz to see what my personal style is and it came out as 'antiquated espresso' How true!
You can take the quiz here, it only takes a couple of minutes.
