From good cause to lost cause!

I need to clear some space and my wardrobe seemed to be as good a place as any to start. I am losing weight and discovering that clothes that are too big are as uncomfortable as those that are too tight!
I also have a lot of stuff that has come from house clearances that is in good condition but not suitable for Ebay, so I filled several bags and took them to a charity in a nearby town. They are a really good cause and do an excellent job.
When I arrived I realised that it was the monthly linen sale! and so I ended up buying as much as I had just donated. Lots of lovely monograms
And a set of mouthblown glasses from about 1850, with ground pontil marks on the bases and simple facet cutting around the bowl. I shall be keeping these.

There is lots more, I still haven't unpacked it all because I was off in darkness this morning to a brocante. I walked a long way and bought nothing, but as always, enjoyed chatting with the dealers and seeing their displays. Then just as I was nearly back at the car I spied this set of bronze curtain fittings from the 3rd Empire.

Solid and very heavy, I was glad I didn't have to walk far with them. So the house is groaning with stock again, but I am sure there will be plenty of Winter days to come when the snow prevents me from getting out and I can concentrate on listing it all.

I really am a lost cause when it comes to buying and hoarding textiles.
