............section of ancient plaster architrave.
Meanwhile I was very unhappy with the wall light at the foot of the new staircase. It is a beautiful light, gilt bronze with a cranberry shade, what's not to like?
It just didn't look right and it irked me every time I walked past it. I'm sure no-one else even noticed but that is not the point.
The scale and the colour were so wrong for that space.
Then after a moment of inspiration the light was replaced by the plaster lit by an LED picture light.
Now I love it, it makes me smile every time I walk past. The beautiful detail of the plaster is highlighted and the slim modern light doesn't detract from that.
I have listed the wall light on Cherchez-chic, you can see the listing if you click here
it is a truly beautiful light that would look superb in the right setting.
A little before and after.
I bought this a while ago just because...........................I like that kind of thing. It is a massive section of architrave that must have come from an amazingly large building. However it then sat around taking up space and gathering dust.Meanwhile I was very unhappy with the wall light at the foot of the new staircase.
