Hope you all had a wonderful Christmas and are settling down to celebrate the arrival of 2013.
I have been practising my Yorkshire puddings all day, as the New Year feast is chez nous tomorrow. It nearly didn't happen when one of the guests was run over by her husband! it wasn't intentional but I think he was in a worse state than her for a while. Her injuries were pretty awful but she is home again and ready to party, albeit in a wheelchair.
All the guests know their way round good food and I know they have eaten very well over the past few weeks. They would feel cheated if there was no foie gras or oysters but I decided to make it a "franglais" menu and am serving rib of beef for the main course.
Hope they like it!
I always like looking back at the old year and making plans for the future. In 2012 I was going to take up painting again, but ended up knitting instead, more portable and very relaxing. I posted to even more countries and saw my linens and clocks used in a huge variety of home, from a medieval manor house to a modern loft apartment. I regularly supply several shops and have met some of my lovely customers for the first time. Other customers, living on opposite sides of Australia, made contact with each other via my Ebay feedback, they have now met and get on famously, I am hoping that I will get to meet them before long.
I spend at least two days a week searching for stock and have already booked another trip to L'Isle-sur-la-Sorgue in March to visit the great antique fair and brocante. So lots to look forward to.
And to end 2012 the feral cats brought me a kitten! Sophie must be at least 12 weeks old and I had no idea that she existed. She comes to the window every evening and I had to set up a tripod to take the photo as she is grey and doesn't show up well. A perfect happy ending to the year.
The only downside is that the window needs constant cleaning after those tiny noses pressing up against it as you can see.
I wish you all good health, wealth and happiness and above all love and laughter in 2013.
