Fit for a King!

Up at dawn this morning, I was greeted by these glorious clouds above the mountain, heralding a day of sparkling sunshine.

With the first guest of the year and lots of sales 2013 has got off to a good start. Like many other guests who live in cities, he is asking what happens here in the Winter. The assumption is long cold boring days, the truth is very different. At the moment the correct answer is "eat Galette des Rois!"
There are endless invites to eat this fearsome confection throughout January, no chance of any post Christmas diets here. A kind of pie made from buttery puff pastry filled with a considerable layer of sweet almond frangipane. There are tiny porcelain charms or "feves" hidden inside and the finders become King and Queen for the year, and get to wear the snazzy crowns. The ones made by the local baker are as big as bicycle wheels and requests for "just a tiny slice" fall on deaf ears.
Luckily I am very busy so hopefully I will burn some of it off.
I have been out searching for stock and found some really superb linen sheets last weekend.
Lovely linen with stunning embroidery and good widths that will fit modern beds. Red also seemed to be a theme this week with some pretty finds.
I shall be listing them as soon as I can, but first there is a Galette des Rois or three waiting!
