Always keep a spare rabbit...........................

What an odd weekend! Still no sunshine, or at least not enough to take seriously. There was one brief moment when the rain stopped and I nipped out to take a couple of photos of the garden.
This is the first year that the clematis has flowered! Planted in 2009 it disappeared for two year so I was really surprised to see some shoots last year & trained them to meet the wisteria. I love the combination of colours.
As soon as I went outside the male redstart (he of the nest on the terrace) appeared and began calling loudly, he is tiny but insistent. Last year he was timid but this year he has taken to peering in at the window much to the amusement of guests.
The guests last weekend arranged to arrive on Friday and requested a special birthday meal that was duly prepared.
They didn't arrive! and there was no contact. A tad despondent we cheered ourselves up by eating the food, which was utterly delicious. On Saturday they arrived at the door, really looking forward to their meal, eeek! Still managed to produce four courses in just over an hour and the birthday was celebrated in style. (They were lovely people and I am relieved to say that the mistake was theirs!).
One thing you learn when running a chambres d'hôtes is how to pull rabbits out of hats.
One of the many lovely things about having guests is that there is some 'quiet time', perhaps waiting for them to arrive or come down for breakfast, little bits of time that I have been using to go through my many photographs that have been dumped in a file during busier times. I have finally got round to 'pinning' them on Pinterest.
