It has been tough but I forced myself to obey orders and relax in the sunshine, with leisurely breakfasts on the terrace
and lazy days reading or just watching the clouds over the mountain
I have been really spoiled and my recovery was helped by a little trip to a Spa in Thonon Les Bains on the edge of lake LĂ©man/Geneva.
The huge window wall looks straight down a tree lined walk to the lake. There was a sauna and a hammam as well with showers that you could switch between cool mountain mist and tropical rain. I didn't want to leave.
Times to coincide with Sam's annual trip with friends to Morzine, where they cycle down ski slopes. I can't bear to watch. Here they are as they crossed into Switzerland.
The sunny tranquillity was interrupted once by the worst hail storm I have ever experienced.
It shattered roof tiles and a velux window, savaged gardens so that their poor remains looked like a war zone and battered the car so that all but one door panel will have to be replaced.
The size of the hail stones became the stuff of legend with some neighbours freezing theirs because they didn't think anyone would believe them.
I'm not bragging or anything but here is just one of them.
The villages all helped each other and the roofer just trundled along with his crane, going from roof to roof, we didn't even have to phone. The empty second homes were looked after too. Job is that kind of place.
I now feel better than I have done for over a year and as soon as I re-opened I had lots of bookings so I am very busy again.
I am also enjoying the vide greniers and brocantes and have lots of lovely stock to list on Ebay over the next couple of weeks.
