En grêve!

There was a national strike yesterday so the little Bureau de Poste in Job was closed so I decided to award myself a much needed day off. So off to a favourite restaurant in a nearby town, the "Auberge du Pont".

This is where I go for inspiration. Rodolphe is really creative and all his meals are memorable. His lunchtime menu is served with the same care as the more expensive evening meals.
His presentation is superb and he shares my passion for using the best ingredients from local producers, so the food tastes as good as it looks. The flavours are intense and vibrant.
His wife Christelle has created two stunningly decorated spaces to dine in, one is very modern with deep flannel grey walls, the other a soft red with a more rustic feel, both demonstrating the same care and harmony that goes into the food.
The difficult part is knowing what to choose!

For me it was also a celebration with lots to celebrate; the end of February! always a month that drags a bit for me, now the snow has melted, the sky is an astonishing clear blue and it really does feel as if Spring has arrived.
Also Sam (son) has moved on and just started his dream job! He has worked so hard for this and I am really proud of him. "Chapeau"!
There has been more good news for family and friends who have had really difficult times recently, I am so pleased that things are looking up for them.

The "day off" didn't quite last all day though, I visited a couple of antique dealers and one was busy arranging the contents of a house clearance. He specialises in high quality furniture and had bought a couple of ancient chests or 'coffres' and a magnificient armoire that was over three metres high, it must have come from quite a house! I bought the linens! I haven't sorted through them all yet, that is my plan for this-afternoon. Bliss!

Here are some of them........
A dreamy pure linen sheet with lots of embroidery across the return.
Isn't this monogram superb? There are twelve huge napkins that are unused.
And more napkins!
Lots of sheets with magnificent monograms, SA and SR.
There are some matching pairs, always great for curtains.
And some very fine linen pillowcases, this one has the flowers and bow embroidery in each corner.
There is lots more, now in the laundry. I average two loads of washing a day at the moment and one of the machines is supersize! That is a lot of ironing. I need to renew my negotiations with the Norfolk Steam Company.

AND I have made plans to go to more sales,  tomorrow, Saturday and Sunday too. There are a couple of armoires in Australia waiting to be filled and my lovely customers keep me busy filling boxes and finding exactly the right textiles for their homes and shops Worldwide.
