But not a lady who lunches!
At the start of June I was taking things easy while addressing some health problems, things were going well and an MRI scan showed great results so I went to bed that night feeling very relieved and happy.
I woke up a few hours later in agony! I didn't think anything could be more painful, but it became progressively worse and a few days later I ended up in the local hospital who transferred me to a larger hospital for gallbladder surgery. However the little blighters had done so much damage by then that I wasn't well enough for the operation. My husband was amazed that after being given morphine I still managed to write a detailed list of things I needed plus sketches of the nighties he needed to buy!
After a few days I persuaded them to allow me to come home to recuperate in peace.
I am now on the strictest diet imaginable, basically steamed fish & chicken, vegetables, yoghourt and fruit with FLAT water, none of that wicked fizzy stuff for me. If this works I should be back in hopsital for the op in a few weeks. Meanwhile I am taking a leaf out of Phoebe's book and relaxing in the sunshine.
This is my prescription from the local postmaster who also brought a pot of home made nettle soup!
Not quite the Summer I had planned, I haven't been able to accept any bookings or go hunting for stock :( but I should be back in action in the Autumn.
On the plus side the weight loss is gratifying and French healthcare is superb. Not only is it fast and efficient but the staff are incredibly kind and helpful, I don't think I could be in a better place.
Meanwhile I have read all my books and would welcome any suggestions for real page turners.

Well, I think you are in great hands. I have nothing but praise for the French health service, having been in need of it for my family and me. If you get offered aromatherapy massage straight after your op - take it - it's fanstastic!
ReplyDeleteCan't offer any book titles though - I'm currently reading all my veggie gardening books which is about as useful to you as a chocolate teapot!
Get well soon.
Hello Cynthia, can't believe the MRI did not show impending gallbladder problem, just goes to show how inaccurate scans really are.
ReplyDeleteHope your preparation for surgery goes well and you are back to ebaying soon. Miss you!
Luv and hugs L xxxxx
